Nutrition: Healthy and Convenient Snacking

SCENARIO: How many times have you been ready to start your new eating plan, workout, and make changes happen. Probably more than one right? Then all of a sudden its lunch time, your at work, 20minutes from home, and your only options are McDonald's, Subway, Burger king and some other chain restaurant that uses trans fats and week old meat........so you cave in because you have to eat. Well I know this situation more than I care to and I am here to give you some options as to what helped me stay healthy and on track.

One of the biggest setbacks when it comes to people following their goals is staying on a healthy eating plan. If you do not have convenient foods available you are more likely to cheat and cause frustration. The world does not make it easy, especially with the plethora of delicious restaurants and sweets all over the world. BUT there is always a way to achieve success even if you do it one snack at a time.

So what are some great options when it comes to snacking or even replacements for lunch? Check it out.......

Kind Bars
  • Great balance of protein, carbs, and fats
  • Satisfies the sweet tooth
  • easy to carry around
  • Pair it with your favorite protein powder or eat alone

Nuts
  • Buy at Trader Joe's, whole foods, or any supermarket individually wrapped
  • Great source of fat, but do not consider these your sole form of protein
  • Enjoy with protein shakes or on a salad if you have time

Protein Bars - Think Thin
  • Great breakfast alternative
  • 20grams of protein
  • Pair with some nuts and fruit for complete meal

Protein Powder
  • Perfect for snack, breakfast, or lunch
  • Can mix with fruit, nuts, kind bars
  • Low Carb
  • Carry one in your office, gym bag, and at home

I think its interesting how a lot of people reading this, people who are trying to gain a better perspective into what healthy is, think us fitness nuts do not encounter many of the same roadblocks as you do. So of course my job is to help close those gaps so we can all become one big happy fit family. Below is a video I made which goes over the snacks and my opinion on snacking and healthy living in the little more depth. If you have any questions or comments please ask me as I always have your back in whatever you need.
