"I am short tempered, exhausted, tired, and more importantly hungry. Only one more week until I reach my skinny girl status, right?"
I think you know where I am going with this, and that is "rapid weight loss" is basically a term to get you to buy into a product or specific procedure. In my opinion, the only sure fire way to lose weight rapidly without changing lifestyle habits is by surgery. Even with that your going to have to sort your way through scar tissue, possible infection, and lack of mobility for a couple months. So what different types of rapid weight loss are we promised?
Diet Pills
This is a hard one for me because I do use a fat burner on certain occasions. The difference between me and your average consumer is that I know the why behind the what. Essentially, fat burners hype you up and make you expend more calories throughout the day (thus the weight loss). There are certain ingredients like green coffee bean, synephrin, CLA, and a few others which main purpose is to help burn fat for energy. BUT can these have rapid life changing effects? Of course not! Your not going to go from 250lbs to looking like Jennifer Aniston in 3 weeks just by popping a pill. Think of these as little soldiers helping you along the way. Also, if your going to use a fat burner or diet supplement make sure you know what's in the product. Nine times out of ten the grams of each ingredient are not listed individually. Also check with your physician especially if your going to do any type of stimulant as this puts stress on the cardiovascular and respiratory systems.
Detox and Cleansing
Since we are talking "rapid weight loss" I want to be clear that most people refer to this term as "fat loss." When doing these cleanses most of weight lost is water, clogged bowel matter, and muscle mass. A lot of people claim to feel less bloated and definitely see a drop in scale weight. The true matter is if your a person seeking to drop body fat % this is not the best way, by any means. If you are wanting to detox your body of toxins and start what I call a "do over" then a 3-4 day cleanse is really all you need. I hate to burst your bubble, and well I even bursted mine when I first looked into this topic. I know it can piss you off when your fed all this crap about health and benefits, but that's why I'm here TO GIVE YOU THE TRUTH.
SO WHAT DOES SCIENCE SAY.........
1 Pound of Fat = 3500 calories ( so if your in a 500 calorie deficit every day of the week you would lose 1lb of fat)
Gain 10 Pounds of Lean Muscle = Burn an extra 500 calories at rest
(that's an extra 3500 calories/week = WHOA or 1lb of fat)
Building muscle and eating a moderate calorie restricted diet helps you lose weight and is a healthy way to do so. So the message is love your body, know your science, and get to the gym!
P.S. New video tomorrow = Just starting out? Nervous to go to the gym? How do you start an exercise program and what exercises to do!
