Body Image: Is your body type unhealthy?

Have you ever taken a minute to look at yourself, and really thought about what kind of body would make you happy?

Your probably like, "no crap. I want to fit in a bikini, have abs, and have my butt lifted to resemble a shelf! But are we searching for a shape which only fitness fanatics, pro competitors, and ambassadors live for? I sure as heck don't think the 16% and below body type is the only sexy type out there. Personally I like lower body fat, but it is not something which makes or breaks my persona. I talk to many clients who are so unhappy with their thighs, midsection, and even ankles. They cry in front of me wondering if their spouse finds them attractive or even if they will ever succeed. I have witnessed people quit, because they felt there was no hope and being healthy meant completely altering there already complicated lives.

So what is healthy? First off, there is no set body type which is better than another. If you are not obese and are considered healthy by your physician then congrats to you. If you are not on cholesterol or blood pressure medication then high five. If you can go to the gym and do a solid hour workout, then go home and eat a 10oz rib-eye with mashed potatoes then HELL YEA! We are meant to move, and if you can move, smile, and live life without worrying about the next media fad then I applaud you.

Healthy is more achievable then we perceive. Instead of trying to reach the body type of the model on Fitness Rx or Sports Illustrated, lets try to focus on eating clean and moving more. Then from there if you want to compete or take your body to the next level, LETS DO IT!

KEEP SMILING AND REMEMBER TO STAY STRONG!
